MEP Schöpflin in NPR Interview: ‘Hungarian Public Opinion Is In Shock’ Over the Migrant Crisis 2015. 09. 02. Yesterday, National Public Radio interviewed Hungarian MEP György Schöpflin following the temporary closure of Budapest’s Keleti Railway Station earlier in the day. The closure was prompted by the large number of migrants overwhelming the station, demanding to be allowed to travel on to Germany by train. As MEP Schöpflin explains, according to European protocol under the Dublin Criteria, migrants requesting asylum may not travel onward until their asylum claim is evaluated and, according to the Fidesz MEP, the rules say that if they do travel onward, they should be sent back to Hungary where they first entered and registered in the European Union.

European Thinking Held Hostage by Delusions and Myths 2015. 08. 22. If you expect an article condemning EU directives on the well being of poultry or the curvature of cucumbers, you are welcome to turn the page. I will not talk about that. Instead, my focus here is on the delusions that capture European thinking, making the EU look like a fly that, instead of escaping the bottle, crashes into its walls again and again.
