Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing: EU Institutions easing communication for millions. Ádám Kósa MEP and Werner Kuhn MEP 2012. 11. 21. Today, a plan for a pilot project aimed at easing the lives of one million deaf and tens of millions of hard-of-hearing sign language users in Europe was presented in Strasbourg by EPP Group MEPs Ádám Kósa and Werner Kuhn and Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Viviane Reding. The proposed project plans to launch the basis of a platform, an independent and free IT application to help these people communicate with the EU Institutions.
EP conference on the Western Balkans 2012. 11. 15. The European Parliament held a two-day seminar on the protection of human rights and the situation of women and children in the Western Balkans with the participation of MEP's and MP's from the concerned enlargement countries. Chairwoman of the conference MEP Lívia Járóka urged practical implementation of anti-discrimination legislation and more effective fight against domestic violence and trafficking in human beings.
Awareness raising campaign to prevent gastrointestinal cancer 2012. 11. 13. The necessity of prevention and early diagnosis were the main topics of the discussion between MEP Lívia Járóka and László Szegő PhD, Chairman of the Hungarian "Gyógyulj Velünk" (Recover with Us) advocacy association for patients with gastrointestinal cancer.

In her one minute speech MEP Lívia Járóka welcomed the European Council's commitment towards boosting employment and social inclusion and expressed her hope that the upcoming summit in November would reinforce the proposals aiming at the most disadvantaged communities.
Negotiation with Commissioner Hahn on the future of cohesion policy 2012. 10. 23. Today in Strasbourg MEP Lívia Járóka, Rapporteur of the EU strategy on Roma inclusion held a meeting with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Regional Policy to discuss the future of cohesion policy. In detail, they negotiated about the impact of the Structural Funds' draft regulation on the inclusion of marginalized communities and the objectives of the European Framework for National Roma Inclusion Strategies, in specific the post-2014 instruments of Integrated Territorial Investment and Community-led Local Development.
Proposed changes in Structural Funds must contribute to the implementation of Roma Strategies 2012. 10. 19. MEP Lívia Járóka participated at the 21st Congress of the European People's Party (EPP) in Bucharest. She emphasized that the next multiannual financial framework of the EU must contribute to the strengthening of social cohesion and the inclusion of the 30 million poorest Europeans. Lívia Járóka also visited the Ferentari district of Bucharest and School 136 visited by the most deprived, largely Roma children of the neighbourhood.

Protection of children on the EU Cypriot Presidency’s agenda 2012. 07. 10. Representatives of the EU Cypriot Presidency presented their six-months programme in the European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality. Vice-Chair Lívia Járóka asked the ministers about their plans to address child poverty. After the meeting she participated on a working lunch with the Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order and the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance where they discussed the implementation of the European Roma Strategy and the supervision of national strategies.
